The "Trichoscopy" module

Module allows to estimate hair density and diameters, access hairs distribution in follicular units, count perifollicular signs (cadaverized, pointed, broken and exclamation mark hairs, yellow, red and white dots), measure hair lengths, mark up specific measurement points on the scalp diagrams, etc. All measurements and calculations are being represented on charts in the form of graphs and data, that can be compared to the mean values based on patient's racial hair variations. There are also scalp, hair roots and shafts studies and analyses included.

The "Phototrichogram" module

Module enables to distinguish subclinical forms of female pattern hair loss at early stages, conduct differential diagnoses between androgenetic and diffuse chronic alopecia, evaluate efficiency of dynamic treatment regimes and more. The study allows to calculate total quantities and percentages of thick, regular and thin hairs, Terminal or Vellus hairs and Anagen or Telogen hairs among them, estimate actual and mean rates of hair growth and shedding, etc. All measurements and calculations are being represented on charts in the form of graphs and data.

The "Trichogram" module

Module allows to determine and calculate percentages of hairs in each of three phases of the hair growth cycle (Anagen, Catagen, or Telogen), as well as to account for dystrophic, dysplastic and broken hair roots. Extracted hair thickness can be measured to find out whether they are Terminal or Vellus, in order to determine association with pattern or diffuse hair loss forms. After counting process completion all results are being recorded and evaluated in the “Trichogram table”. There is an image database of hair roots included.

The "Dermatoscopy" module

Module allows to conduct general scalp study and carry out pigmented lesion identification, measurement and determination of their boundaries symmetry. The data obtained can be evaluated based on well-known “ABC”, “ABCD”, “Argeniziano” algorithms. The proper assessment of the scalp condition enables to detect changes in the perifollicular zone, that shall be considered when selecting a treatment for patients with alopecia and/or dermatosis signs. There is an image base of dermatoscopic signs included.

The first version of the professional computer program TrichoSciencePro© was released in 2012 with numerous newer versions and upgrades thereafter to remain at the cutting edge of Trichology and meet rapidlly increasing demands for a single software solution to perform and manage most relevant clinical and non-clinical practices associated activities in this specialized scientific study of the health of hair and scalp.

Techniques

Other studies which can be conducted for patient evaluation include modules of "Trichometry" with automatic “Hair calculator” function, "Automatic conclusion" differentiating between ongoing hair loss forms, “Follicular units analysis” aiding in preparation for surgical hair transplantation procedures, "Additional studies” for global photographs analysis and saving any other relevant images for comparisons, and more.

Equipment

The program is designed to work with any optical equipment with at least two magnification levels - lower (from x30 to x60) and higher (from x100 to x300). Also, very low (from x1 to x20) and high (from x400 to x1000) magnification levels can be utilized for some specific studies. While the great advantage of this program is that it can be used with virtually any optical equipment suitable for studies by its produced magnifications.
